The Royal Barriere in Deauville overlooks the sea and is set against the green wooded landscapes of Normandy. Built in 1913 at the height of La Belle Époque, when the city was a magnet for the wealthy and stylish of Europe, the impressive façade of the Royal Barrière still presides over this elegant town. Beach lovers and people watchers flock to the three kilometers of superb sandy beach and boardwalk "les planches" that are opposite the hotel. The hotel is one hour from the historic World War II landing beaches and Mont Saint-Michel and 15 kilometers from Honfleur, where 19th century painters were inspired by the light along the estuary.
Palm-tree chandeliers, soft, patterned carpets and a multitude of golden columns in the central lobby are examples of the magnificent décor at the Royal Barriere. The adjoining Casino Barrière has warm scarlet interiors with striking galleries enclosing the theater-in-the- round, cinema and games. L'Etrier serves the finest French cuisine and wines, the elegant Cote Royal serves breakfast and sumptuous meals and La Piscine is a relaxing poolside setting for buffet lunch. Bar de l'Etrier is a perfect rendez-vous for champagne. At the Royal Thalasso Barrière Health Club, guests can enjoy half-day treatments in the seawater pool, saunas, steam rooms, Turkish baths and outdoor whirlpool spa. Golfers can test their skills at the Golf Barrière de Deauville, one of the finest courses in France that presents technical obstacles that will test players of all levels.
The Royal Barriere, Deauville spacious guestrooms are situated on the exterior of the u-shaped building and feature traditional French style décor with rich fabrics and Norman coats of arms above each door. Other guestrooms feature more modern-style décor and are decorated in tones of plum and green. Amenities include minibars, electronic safes, modem connections and satellite television.
